Commonwealth Heritage Skills Training is being provided my M.Womersleys in Barbados
Sponsored by the Queen Elizabeth II, Platinum Jubilee Commonwealth Heritage Skills Training Programme, funded by the Hamish Ogston Foundation, Mark is in Barbados providing training. Specifically, to the tutors and students at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute, a technical college and polytechnic, and at Grant Adams Memorial School, which has a strong vocational content. The training is concentrating on the use of lime mortars, for building, pointing, stucco work and stone repair, and the island’s traditional building techniques. As part of Mark’s research before the training begins, he was visiting local lime kilns today, and he starts building a small test kiln at CO Williams, on the outskirts of Bridgetown, on Monday.
