Dealing with Salts at a Fine 17th Century Hall
M Womersleys have analysed salt deposits at a fine 17th century hall in North Yorkshire, and provided advice to the architects and main contractor, on the best way of dealing with the contamination; as well as preparing suggested specifications for insulating the internal face of the external walls.
The insulation proposals put forward do not compromise the integrity of the historic walls, will help preserve their historic character, insulate them to create a more comfortable internal climate, and try to reduce condensation near to the inside surface of the stone, by pushing the condensation point and salt crystallisations, following cooler weather, further out of the wall.
