Lime mortars used to create water proof step well

At the base of Amber Fort in Jaipur you can find the Step Well, originally built and rendered with lime mortars, and the Laxmi Narayan Temple, both built in the 17th century. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is built from a green coloured sandstone. The sabha mandap, in front of the main sanctum, is formed by the 16 pillars but has now lost its roof.
