M Womersleys were delighted to offer a day of tutoring to those who attended the Wentworth Woodhouse Working Party between the 5th and 10th June 2025. M Womersleys carried out initial mortar analysis for SPAB and Wentworth Woodhouse before helping people understand the range of lime mortars that should be used in Historic Building Conservation Work.
The Summer Working Party took place at Wentworth Woodhouse, one of the UK’s largest Georgian Houses, and the Working Party was open to all. It provided an opportunity to have a go at a range of conservation techniques on real historic buildings and structures, under the guidance of world-class specialists.
Mark Womersley spent a day demonstrating the preparation and application of lime mortars for the repair of decayed sandstone walls, using hydraulic and non-hydraulic lime-based plastic stone repair materials, to a diverse group of individuals who all shared a passion for the conservation of old buildings and a thirst for knowledge in how to repair them sympathetically.
