What a pleasure to be booked in to resurvey the Apollo
What a pleasure to be booked in to resurvey the Apollo. Good theatre management means Mark has been asked by Ornate Interiors to help them again with their annual ceiling plasterwork survey at the Apollo. The Apollo at Hammersmith, London, designed by Robert Cromie in the Art Deco Style and opening in 1932 as the Gamont Palace Cinema is a pleasure visit. The foyer areas and auditorium are decorated in the slightly underpowered Art Deco Style and is an outstanding, nearly unaltered, example of cinema architecture. Its listed status was upgraded to II* in 2005. The high listed building status reflecting David Atwell comments that the Apollo is an Art Deco accomplishment second only to New Victoria.
